Our PU was up graded to a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD turbo Duramax diesel with Allison transmission
which we purchased at Power Chevrolet in Tillimook, OR in late June of 2007. We pull a 2007 NuWa
Hitchhicker Touring Coach which we purchased at Floyd’s RV just south of Norman, OK Sept 28, 2007.
We have traveled in 49 of the 50 states and much of Canada. We have volunteered in Colorado, Georgia,
Alaska for 3 years, Louisiana, North Dakota and 7 winters in Picacho Peak State Park near Casa Grande, AZ.
Marlene and I met on the Internet in 1999. After corresponding with her for a few months, I took a trip to GA
to meet her and try out my new Chalet “A” frame 15’trailer. Marlene had never been camping before so we
went on a weekend trip to the North George State Park near Clayton. I told her I had been to Alaska and was
thinking about going back. She indicated that she would be interesting in going also. We spent two months
going, staying and coming from Alaska. On our way back to the lower 48 we went by Skagway. We decided
to get married there.
Staring our travels in 1999 in our Chalet Pop Up being towed by a Chevy Venture Mini Van, we headed to
Alaska. We headed towards Seattle where we bought a copy of the Mile Post and headed out. Arriving in
Alaska we took a tour of Alaska driving on any road we could find that was paved. We also headed up to
Purdue Bay which was a 500 mile gravel road also known as the Haul Road. This was an experience. We took
in Fairbanks then headed to Anchorage and down to Homer. Leaving Anchorage we again headed to the
Alaska Highway and back through Canada making a side trip to Skagway. Returning to GA we took in Nova
Scotia and the New England States in the fall. We upgraded to a 2000 Nomad by Skyline before we left
for New England.
We volunteered at Picacho Peak State Park in Dec 2000 to March 2001 in our Coachman Catalina which was
a 25 ft travel trailer. Our first upgrade. We volunteered a month in LA State Park when we left Picacho Peak
State Park. We spent the rest of the year in Douglas, GA taking a few weekend trips around GA.
We spent the summer of 2002 volunteering at a George State Park near Helen, GA. Again we headed back to
Picacho Peak State Park for the winter.
The spring of 2003 we toured the National Parks in UT, and again headed to AK for the summer to host at Bird
Creek Overflow in Chugach State Park, AK. The winter of 2003-2004 was again spent at Picacho Peak State
Park. Jan 2004 we again upgraded to a 27 ft Alumascape by Holiday Rambler.
The summer of 2005, we hosted at Lewis and Clark State Park in ND for one month and the rest of the summer
was spent camping in National Parks and National Forests in ND, SD, MT, WY, CO and AZ.
Winter of 2005-2006 was spent again in Picacho Peak State Park. We arrived earlier than usual as Gordon
had a Dr appointment the 9th of October. November 9th he had a total knee replacement and spent the next 6
weeks recuperating. The winter of 2007-2007 we decided that this would be our last hear hosting and we
would retire form hosting. This would free up more time for travel.
In June and Sept 2007 we upgraded our PU to a 2007 Diesel and our camper to a NuWa Hitchhicker Touring Coach
